archi-treasures celebrated its 9th Jewels in July Benefit this year at the amazing Adobo Grill in Old Town. On July 20, nearly 150 guests enjoyed Adobo’s special “treasuritas”, sangria, giant bowls of guacamole, quesadillas, chicken skewers, and more. Competition was fierce in bidding for the silent auction but there was only one delighted winner of the I-Pad raffle prize.
Each year archi-treasures selects a project and a person to receive the Gem of the Community Award. This year Cle’anna Moore accepted the award for the Germano Millgate community in South Chicago. Eighteen year old Cle’anna is a participant in this summer’s archi-treasures program and was able to describe for guests the project that she and her team are working on – the 89th Street Black Line, a dazzling outdoor structure that accommodates both seating and interactive play.
Former Board Director Sharon Exley also received a Gem Award for her dedication both with archi-treasures and as a founding partner of ArchitectureisFun, an award-winning design firm. On one of the hottest nights of the summer, everyone was chillin’ at Jewels in July.
“I believe in creating something beautiful that’s worth building a community around. Community is what we do together –It builds confidence in the power to help transform communities. This is why archi-treasures works. I’m grateful to celebrate their achievements.”
