Rosa Parks Mosaic Project
We need hands to help us with an exciting mosaic project. Join us for one or many free community workshops with professional tile artist Douglas Ray Jackson as we create large mosaic walls and panels telling the story of Rosa Parks. These beautiful pieces will be installed on the exterior of Bickerdike Redevelopment's new Rosa Parks Apartments, an affordable housing development in Humboldt Park.

Weekends at Westhaven
In winter of 2009, archi-treasures issued a RFP to artists for a project to unite members of the Westhaven community, a mixed-income development on the near west side. Three artists were chosen to present their ideas to community members who voted for a winner. Pete Stam's concept for Weekends at Westhaven was selected and will be implemented over the course of summer 2010.
Based on the success of past community events, the winning idea combines fun new events with an adaptable sculptural component. Pete designed three simple boxes, about 18" square, some with a lighting component, to create a dynamic and adaptable platform for each event, injecting different public spaces with life and activity. Each new event utilizes more boxes, and at the culmination of the project, the boxes will be permanently installed in the community garden being built during archi-treasures summer youth program. To volunteer, contact Project Manager Vanessa Rosenbaum.
