Program Manager (part-time or full-time) 

Job Description

Architreasures’s Program Manager serves as a key staff member responsible for the planning and implementation of neighborhood-based arts programming and community art / design projects across multiple sites in Chicago. The Program Manager oversees program teams including artists, designers, interns, and volunteers; facilitates community participation in the project development process; and supports the continuous growth of Architreasures’ community engaged art and design practice. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out research and discovery to identify needs and opportunities with partnering organizations and communities

  • Develop scope, objectives, and timelines for public art, design/ build and placemaking/placekeeping projects

  • Facilitate community engagement opportunities and stakeholder meetings as part of project design and production process

  • Develop and plan hands-on art-making workshops and community events at program sites including affordable housing developments, social services and schools

  • Manage the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding of artists, subcontractors, interns, volunteers and community liaisons

  • Manage collaboration and work flow among program team members and with partnering program sites

  • Coordinate project supply needs and deliveries, related logistics and program schedules

  • Ensure delivery of quality community arts experiences and final art/design products

  • Develop and maintain program documentation, reporting and participant tracking tools

 

Qualifications
Education

  • BA and 3-5 years of relevant experience with community arts/cultural programming, social/community design, architecture and/or other related fields

Experience

  • Working knowledge and experience developing community arts programming, public art work, design/ build projects and/or other types of placemaking/placekeeping initiatives

  • Demonstrated success working in low to moderate income neighborhoods and communities of color.

Knowledge, Skills, Capabilities

  • Ability to recruit and manage creative teams and promote collaboration with diverse community stakeholders.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, able to connect with varied audiences

  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet deadlines and reporting requirements, and work within budgets

  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and as part of a team

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Autocad, and / or other design software strongly desired.

Requirements

  • Interest and commitment to supporting equitable community development through art and design

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, on Sat and evenings as needed, and travel between multiple program locations.

Compensation: Negotiable, based on experience
